Terrordrome: Reign of the Legends – Kickstarter March 2018

Hi Everyone, new banner update for a new Kickstarter date. I’m sorry to inform that the Kickstarter campaign will be pushed back to March 2018 with the exact day to be confirmed. Initially planned for November 2017, we realised we needed more time to polish our demo and Kickstarter trailer. We also all took a break this summer to be ready and full of energy for what’s coming up. Now the whole team is working hard to prepare the campaign. So what’s new you may ask? We have 4 characters at different level of completion, 2 are almost final and the 2 others have their textures being done. We have 2 characters integrated in an early but already fun playable version. 5 concept art of future stages and 1 stage soon being modeled. The storyline for our first roster is being written as I write this post, and the storyboard of the KS trailer will soon start too. We have testing videos of gameplay that proves we’re on the right track regarding game mechanics, the Terrordrome style and combos! Unfortunately we can’t show any gameplay video yet, it’s still only internal. So it’s now a matter of completing this first demo with 4 characters and polishing everything in time. Next month is October, our most beloved month for obvious reason, so expect us to show you official stuff

Hello there Terror-Fans!

Terrordrome: Reign of the Legends game is slowly but steadily being developed. While we are making the game, we would like to hear from you what characters you would like to see in the next our game! Detailed answers will be very appreciated.

You can write your ideas here or on our Facebook fanpage.

Be warned though! We are not considering any licensed characters. As the game’s title hints, the focus departs from horror movie licensed characters to a wider variety of popular characters rooted in cultural myth and legends as well as classic horror literature figures.

Kickstarter November 2017

Hey Terrorfans!

We’re reaching out to you firstly to remind of our Kickstarter November 2017. As you should know by now, we’re preparing the spiritual successor to Terrordrome: Terrordrome – Reign of the Legends. In order to prepare our Kickstarter campaign the best way and reach a wide array of potential backers, we’re preparing this with great anticipation. To do so, we’d like to know your thoughts about what kind of rewards and perks you’d like to see in the campaign. What are the features you’re ready to back and get involved with?

We’re currently working on the whole structure of the game, gameplay and storyline and so far we have 4 characters modeled at different stages, animation has started too. We’ve also started working on 2 stages and we’re testing the integration of these early assets in Unity and I can tell you we’re very excited to see new characters come alive in a 3D format!
Please support us and share this!!!

Terrordrome 2 back on track

trdm2logopresentation1

Happy Halloween!
For this special day of the year, we’d like to celebrate it by introducing the new logo for Terrordrome2, as the project is back on track! The whole TerrorTeam is back together to work on a killer sequel. We have hinted at this project several times before but not everyone on the team was fully available at the time, facing private life issues and other challenges. But now the team is ready to dive into this new project.  While we were releasing patches for TRDM1 we’ve also been preparing TRDM2 for quiet a long time, and after many hours of brainstorming and talks we are now back in pre-production phase. It means that the first characters are being modelled in their final version as we speak. These will be the first characters featuring in the demo that we intend to pull-off next year. We will fund this demo ourselves until we are ready to launch a Kickstarter campaign. With the support of the many fans of TRDM1 and some luck, we could potentially turn this into a kick ass fighting game. We envision it as a true successor to TRDM1 but with a different twist. We will be careful at disclosing informations and details this time as we have good reason to think concepts and ideas are easily stolen in this industry…
We’ll be using Unity 3D engine and UFE module (Universal fighting engine) and top notch models and animations. We have the experience of fighting game, we have the tools, we are motivated and are willing to deliver the best horror fighting game ever, no less!
Stay tuned! 😀

Anyone liking the idea of a Kickstarter campaign for Terrordrome 2 next year? A true Horror Fighting game with original and strong character designs? Competitive 2.5D gameplay, stunning graphics, beautiful animations and great sounds? For PC and consoles? It’s possible with your help!
Please let us know what you think on the Facebook and what you’d like to have in this game. We’ve been building a solid concept so far but we’d like to know your inputs. (please, don’t post any list with Jason, Freddy, Leatherface, etc… You have them already in Terrordrome – Rise of the boogeymen and in now in MK franchise). Please, note that we are not going to use any copyrighted characters this time. We’re aiming for classic monsters such as Frankenstein’s creature (mainly public domain characters), urban legends and own ideas.
This is the chance to create a new brand and fill a spot left in the fighting games landscapes, not cartoonish game, not opportunistic DLC in gory kung-fu game, but a real Horror fighting game straight out of any horror fan dream.

TRDM2 narrative direction.

narrative

While LoL is in the making, I’d like to share my thoughts on Fighting Games Storylines and where I want to take TRDM2 own Storyline.
Well basically there is not much to say about fighting game stories in general as it’s gotta be the ingredient they lack the most. Indeed a fighting game relies mostly if not entirely on a solid gameplay mechanic, the rest seems pretty much to be very incidental.
Since I’m not familiar with every game mythology I’ll take the exemple of Street Fighter to illustrate my thinking.
While SF basically started it all with a genius fighting model mechanic, it cannot be said the same for its storyline which is practically inexistent and boring at best. The characters have no depths at all, their motives to engage in this contest are pretty limited and childish and the whole plot is (IMO) mindless.
If I take a look at all other Japanese fighting games, I can usually see a similar childish story driven pattern. (Don’t even get me started with the anim cute girly trend syndrome)
In comparison Mortal Kombat undeniably comes up with a far more interesting and mature plot. The way the story unfold in the last MK installment is also really well done.
So TRDM will lean more toward MK’s approach when it comes to tell a story. But is there a way take it even further? I say yes 😉
As a fan of Horror/Sci-fi/ that I am and as far as I’m concerned, I usually tend to relate to the characters and immerse myself into a story when it gots some real/truth element in it. When I think the story could eventually take place in reality that’s when I feel carried and I feel compelled to know more about it. I can’t relate to unrealistic character’s behavior or absurd stories. Don’t get me wrong I love fantasy/sci-fi/strange universe, but it gotta make sense to me. It’s gotta be subtle and posess a clever spirit.
So how am I gonna to implement this into TRDM2? I want to build a narrative structure where the story will requier compelling characters and where characters will need a compelling context.
I want the player to like the characters not only for their style but feel for them and wanting to dive deeper into their motive and own story.
In the end, I want the player to enjoy a great fighting game and feel a deep curiosity in the story and its element, just when you watch and enjoy a cool movie but you don’t fully understand the meaning the first time you see it and requiers you to dig deeper inside what the author is really trying to tell.
Just give us the time to develop all this and we might bring something new to the table .
